Infertility Management

The failure to establish a clinical pregnancy after 12 months or more of frequent, unprotected sexual contact defines infertility, a disorder of the reproductive system. Primary and secondary infertility are the two types. Primary infertility is the absence of pregnancy in the relationship. When a couple has secondary infertility, it indicates they had already had a pregnancy but were unable to conceive again.

The majority of infertile couples worldwide have primary infertility.

Causes

Male and female factors can both contribute to infertility. A third of issues with infertility are caused by female infertility, while a second third are caused by male infertility. In other circumstances, infertility may result from issues with both couples or from an underlying condition.

Female infertility can be caused by a number of factors
  • Cervical causes
  • Damage to fallopian tubes
  • Uterine causes
  • Disturb ovarian function/hormonal causes
