PCOD Management

A hormonal condition known as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is prevalent in females of reproductive age. Women with PCOS may experience irregular or extended menstrual cycles or have elevated amounts of androgens, or male hormones. The ovaries could produce a lot of tiny fluid-filled sacs (follicles) but not consistently release eggs. There is no recognised cause for PCOS.

Weight loss and early diagnosis and treatment may help to lower the chance of developing long-term problems such type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Symptoms

For instance, PCOS might appear later as a result of significant weight gain.
PCOS symptoms and signs might vary. When you exhibit at least two of these symptoms, you are given a PCOS diagnosis.

  • Irregular periods. Infrequent, irregular or prolonged menstrual cycles are the most common sign of PCOS. For example, you might have fewer than nine periods a year, more than 35 days between periods and abnormally heavy periods.
  • Excess androgen. Elevated levels of male hormones may result in physical signs, such as excess facial and body hair (hirsutism), and occasionally severe acne and male-pattern baldness.
